TEXT ON BACK…
Christmas is all about gifts. Imagine being given a gift and not even knowing it. God once gave a gift to the world, but most people don’t even know what it was. But before this gift will make any sense, you first need to know something about God. God is moral. This means He hates evil, and loves what is good. The big question is, are you good?
Try this quick test:
How many lies have you told in your whole life? Be honest.
Have you ever stolen anything, regardless of value?
Have you ever looked at someone with lust (sexual desire)? God sees lust as Adultery. Have you ever used the name of Jesus Christ as a swear word to express disgust or in frustration? This is called blasphemy.
Have you ever hated anyone? God sees hatred as murder.
These are all part of God’s moral law. If we’ve broken any of them, we’ve made ourselves enemies of God. Breaking God’s law is called sin and comes with serious consequences. Because God is Holy and Righteous, His punishment is Hell. In fact, He won’t only judge our actions, but our words and thoughts too.
So how can you escape God’s judgement?
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus lived a perfect and sinless life, then He gave up His life as a payment for sin when He died on the Cross. Three days later He rose from the grave, defeating sin and death.
Because of the death and resurrection of Jesus, God can forgive you and grant you everlasting life. How could Christmas get any better than having forgiveness of sin and peace with God? To access this forgiveness, God commands you to Repent (turn from sin) and put your Faith (trust) in Jesus Christ alone. Don’t trust in yourself, trust only in what Jesus did for you when He died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sin. Read the Bible to learn about God. [bible.com]
